How to know you are paying too much in taxes living in Northern Oregon and not moving to Washington State.

 Living in Oregon is very expensive with our 9 percent and 10 percent income tax and a lot of  people don't even see how much they are paying. couple that tax with other taxes including property taxes which are sky high in Oregon and you find yourself living in one of the most expensive states for taxes in the country.  So lets say you pay $2000 in Oregon income taxes in 2021  that would mean you would have to buy so much taxable stuff in the state of Washington to pay the same amount. To find out how much stuff you would have to buy at their 8.5 percent sales tax for the Vancouver, Washington area simply devide that $2000 you pay by the rate of 0.085 to see how much you would have to pay as much in sales tax.  So that is 2000  divided by 0.085 which comes to paying out $23,529.41 worth of purchases where sales tax applies.  does not apply to groceries etc.  

if you are paying $3000 a year in Oregon income taxes using the same method you would have to buy $35,294 worth of taxible stuff in the state of washington to pay as much tax.


if you are paying $10,000 in oregon income tax you would have to buy:  $117,647 worth of taxible stuff in washington state.


$20,000 paid in oregon income tax  is the same as paying for $235,274 stuff in wasingington state sales taxed stuff.


and $40,000 in oregon income taxes paid you would have to pay for $470,588 worth of sales taxible stuff in washington state.  



talk about a regressive tax system.  Oregon is foul. this is not to say we need a sales tax in oregon this is to say that our tax rates are too high in oregon and are not sustainable by wage earners and even not sustainable by rich people ten percent compounded annually means  over 40 years the state is doing almost as well as warren buffet feeding off your income except that the state does not take your principle there as they do with property taxers.  If you wonder about the terrible bridge traffic to vancouver this is why it is happening.

Salmon Runs in the Columbia River system are being systematically ruined by the pseudo science ecologist/ environmentalists who are incharge.

If it was not for the pseudo science of ecology we could have infinitely more fish in northwest rivers and beyond.  The environmentalists actually are the real cause of fish declines.  The original numbers we have for salmon runs come form canning facilities along the Columbia river more than a century ago.  Everything else they have to say about the fish is fabrication.  The salmon  had to climb cascades as difficult and worse than Willamette falls in Oregon city today.
