How to know you are paying too much in taxes living in Northern Oregon and not moving to Washington State.

 Living in Oregon is very expensive with our 9 percent and 10 percent income tax and a lot of  people don't even see how much they are paying. couple that tax with other taxes including property taxes which are sky high in Oregon and you find yourself living in one of the most expensive states for taxes in the country.  So lets say you pay $2000 in Oregon income taxes in 2021  that would mean you would have to buy so much taxable stuff in the state of Washington to pay the same amount. To find out how much stuff you would have to buy at their 8.5 percent sales tax for the Vancouver, Washington area simply devide that $2000 you pay by the rate of 0.085 to see how much you would have to pay as much in sales tax.  So that is 2000  divided by 0.085 which comes to paying out $23,529.41 worth of purchases where sales tax applies.  does not apply to groceries etc.   if you are paying $3000 a year in Oregon income taxes using the same method you would have to buy $35,294 worth of taxible s
